25 hours till departure. Where did all the spare time go? Feel like I am scrambling now to get every little detail done. Rebecca is having a late birthday party today and Aaron may have to a game in Blaine. Just keep breathing Bob, just keep breathing.
I like being prepared and try to think through every little detail and possiblity but so much is unknown and impossible to predict. God has already answered three big prayers of mine before I even board the plane. Just His way of telling me He has everything under control so stop worring.
Ok so I need to get back to work now wanted to take time to be sure I could get on the blog before we left. Next time you hear from me I'll probably be on the ground in Nairobi.

Taking a peek into Kenya

We are excited for the LCC team to arrive in Nairobi. Pictured here are two children peeking out from a church in the Mathare slum. The walls of this church are made of sticks and mud and the roof is comprised of corrugated metal sheets. This is one of the areas that the team will be visiting and the visit will be touching lives and bringing hope. Often as a team member is wishing that they could have done more to help, we are reminded by people in the community that they are so amazed that someone from America would actually visit their place in the slum of Kenya that it is a true sign that God exists! James 2@4 "Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only."

Kenya Meeting Photos

One more week to go! Here are some photos I took of our last meeting: http://picasaweb.google.com/renee.kenya.2010/KenyaMeeting#

Thanks for all the support so far! Let's encourage one another, as it is written in 1 Thessalonians 5:11, 16-18 (NIV):

11
Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

16Be joyful always; 17pray continually; 18give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.

T-minus 18...

I just wanted to put out a few requests and some praises. The praise, is that we have indeed come along way from when we first started. We are just starting to feel like a team, something that will be fullfilled once we're on the ground. The requests are the usuall: money and prayers. We have yet to truely prepare a worship team, and we desperately need to rectify that. The good news is that we have some practices scheduled, and the songs will be prepared in Powerpoint. The other request concernes Eastleigh and its bases. The current plan involves us doing a sort of day camp with some of the local youth. Pray that we prepare appropriately for this challenge, and that any trips out into the bases are safe and uncomplicated. T-minus 18 days and counting...HOOAH!!!
It's Getting Close!

It's hard to believe, but we leave in 18 days! Time flew by, and we are still finalizing our itinerary. We have grown from a hodge podge collaboration of people to a bonded, connected team hopeful of what God will do during our 16 days in Kenya. God is good!
Please pray for our travels, our health, our mission!

Many Blessings,
Erika Yenokida

Dot Dot-Dot Dash-Dot Dot

Wow. That's all I have to say. Wow. This latest meeting has been a bit of an eye opener. Many thanks once again to Sean, Joshua, and Brendon for the delicious meal and devotional. I think that was what I atleast needed to hear, especially after hearing how deeply in dept we are. The situation is dire: we haven't even covered our airfair yet. The money needs to come together soon. Same with our worship team. We also would like some donations. Besides the ones on the list already, we would like the following: cloth diapers (they wash them out at the orphaniges), children's toys that won't break easily, deflated beachballs, and last but certainly not least: BUBBLES!!!! Beyond that, we need prayer and preparation concerning our health whilst away.

Now, for the good news. Preparations for this year's drama are well underway, and things appear to be shaping up nicely. Nicole deserves alot of credit for directing us all in such a professional manner. That has really sped things up. The worship team is coming together and it sounds like we will be getting some great sound equipment, thanks to one Kelly Sakanashi. I have a powerpoint set up and need to mearly refine it.

On a more personal note: we need prayer that the Yenokida children get to their grandparent's place safely. That Nicole's projects for this trip would resolve themselves in her absence. And that I would find some way to lead this group of rowdy highschoolers and now ex-highschoolers as God would want me to lead them. Here goes. HOOAH!!!

Yehaa! He did it!!!

Some great news to report after one team building day and one planning day. We finally have our drama and music all but selected! Yippee!!! Even more great news: reports indicate that Kelly Sakanashi has prepared a sound diagram and equipment for us. We'll have access to gear that's on the same level as Lighthouse. Our new prayer request include: that God would open our eyes to the ways that the people we serve see the world, that I would learn how best to use this new equipment, and that all of the money would come in soon. Hooah!!!!
